These 13 outstanding honor band musicians were selected from over 1000 Western International Band Clinic auditions in the fall of 2016. The WIBC Board of Directors selected these top students from various high schools throughout the United States.
Dakota Huffman

Dakota Huffman is a 17 year old saxophonist from Washington, USA. He is currently a junior at Tahoma High School.
Dakota has been playing saxophone for 6 years.
Other than playing sax, Dakota enjoys spending time with his family, and listening to jazz
Emma Eisenberg
Bassoon
Westview HS - Oregon
Emma is a sophomore at Westview High School in Portland, Oregon. After initially playing clarinet for two years, she eventually fell in love with the bassoon at the beginning of seventh grade.

Emma currently plays principal bassoon in Westview’s wind ensemble, Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra, Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of the 2017 Oregon All-State High School Orchestra.
She is looking forward to learning and performing great music, making new friends, and creating lifelong memories in Australia with the Pacific Honours Ensemble Program
Emily Geoffroy

Grant HS - Oregon
Emily Geoffroy is 16 and attends Grant High School in Portland, Oregon. She has played clarinet for six years, and is principal clarinet in her school's wind ensemble and Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra.
She has attended Oregon Allstate three times and went to All-Northwest as well.
She hopes to double major in Music Education and Music Performance.
Jenny Wagstaff

Central Valley HS
Jenny is a 17 year-old Junior at Central Valley High School in Spokane, Washington. She has been playing French Horn for two and a half years and currently is the 2nd horn in her schools wind ensemble. In addition, Jenny is also in her school's marching band, the Spokane Youth Symphony, and has participated in the pit orchestra with her school's theater program. She was also a chorus member in the musical Funny Girl her freshman year. Jenny has also been playing piano since kindergarten.
Jenny's education goal is to major in music education and/or music therapy. She is honored and very excited to play with the Pacific Honors Ensemble Program and travel outside of North America!
Michail Thompson
Trumpet
Grant HS - Oregon
My name is Michail Thompson and I am a junior at grant high school. I have been playing the trumpet since I was 8 and along the way have played the trombone, euphonium, french horn, flugel horn, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, orchestral and marching percussion, and piano.
I am the principal trumpet for the Grant High School Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and the Portland Youth Philharmonic. I have also played principal trumpet for the All-State Orchestra, All-North West Concert Band, and the Fire Bird Honor Band for two years in a row. I am also in a jazz combo which plays gigs around town and recently opened for a jazz festival in Bend OR. Besides performing music, I enjoy composing for groups of all sizes and styles, and in my free time tune pianos.
